Art & Culture | Free admission

“A little culture costs nothing.”

Looking to see more of Dublin without watching your spending money disappear? Add the National Gallery of Ireland to your itinerary.

Just beside Merrion Square, this impressive gallery brings together Irish and European art spanning several centuries. The permanent collection is free to visit, so you can pop in for 20 minutes or lose a whole afternoon wandering through the galleries.

And no, you don't need to be an art expert. Pick a painting that catches your attention, read its story, decide what you think about it and move on. Some pieces will blow you away; others might leave you wondering what on earth you're looking at. That's all part of the experience.

Once you've had your fill of art, head outside and explore Georgian Dublin. Merrion Square is ideal for a stroll, while Trinity College, Grafton Street and St Stephen's Green are all within easy reach.

It's also a great rainy-day option when the weather decides to do its own thing.
